Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Last reviewed: August 2026

The Compliance Classroom is committed to providing fair, inclusive and accessible online training for learners in schools and education settings. This policy explains our approach to equality, accessibility, reasonable adjustments and inclusive course design.

1. Purpose

The Compliance Classroom is committed to providing inclusive, accessible and fair learning opportunities.

We recognise the importance of treating learners with dignity, respect and fairness and of ensuring that our services do not unlawfully discriminate against individuals because of a protected characteristic.

This policy sets out The Compliance Classroom’s approach to equality, diversity and inclusion in the development and delivery of our online training and related services.

It forms part of our wider commitment to providing accessible, high-quality learning designed for education settings.

2. Our Commitment

The Compliance Classroom is committed to:

  • providing fair access to our learning services;
  • treating learners fairly, consistently and with respect;
  • promoting an inclusive learning experience;
  • preventing unlawful discrimination, harassment and victimisation in connection with our services;
  • considering reasonable adjustments for disabled learners where required;
  • considering accessibility and inclusion when developing and reviewing learning materials;
  • using language, examples, scenarios and imagery that are appropriate and inclusive;
  • responding appropriately to concerns relating to equality, accessibility or discrimination; and
  • reviewing our approach as our services and learning platform develop.

3. Equality Act 2010

The Compliance Classroom recognises the protected characteristics set out in the Equality Act 2010:

  • age;
  • disability;
  • gender reassignment;
  • marriage and civil partnership;
  • pregnancy and maternity;
  • race;
  • religion or belief;
  • sex; and
  • sexual orientation.

We aim to provide our services in accordance with our responsibilities under applicable equality legislation and will not unlawfully discriminate in the provision of our training services.

4. Equality and Online Learning

The Compliance Classroom provides predominantly self-paced online training. Learners may therefore access our courses using different devices, technologies and working arrangements and may have different learning or accessibility requirements.

We aim to identify and reduce unnecessary barriers to accessing and completing our training.

Depending on the circumstances and what is reasonably practicable, support may include:

  • providing information in an alternative format;
  • considering alternative ways of accessing particular learning information;
  • providing clear and appropriately structured learning materials;
  • making use of accessibility functionality available through our website and learning platform;
  • considering adjustments to learning activities or assessments where appropriate; and
  • considering other reasonable measures following discussion with the learner, their employer or training administrator where appropriate.

Any adjustment must maintain the integrity of the relevant learning outcomes and, where applicable, the assessment.

5. Accessibility

Accessibility is considered when developing and reviewing The Compliance Classroom website, learning platform and course content.

We aim to make learning materials clear, appropriately structured and straightforward to navigate.

We recognise that accessibility needs vary between individuals and that technological or accessibility barriers may sometimes arise.

Learners who experience difficulty accessing our training are encouraged to contact The Compliance Classroom or their organisation’s training administrator so that the issue can be considered.

Where reasonably practicable, we will seek to identify an appropriate solution.

Accessibility considerations also form part of our course content review and continuous improvement processes.

6. Fair Treatment

Learners using The Compliance Classroom will be treated fairly and respectfully.

We will not tolerate unlawful discrimination, harassment or victimisation in connection with the services we provide.

We recognise that equality does not necessarily mean treating every learner in exactly the same way. Different arrangements or reasonable adjustments may sometimes be appropriate to enable equitable access to learning.

7. Inclusive Course Content

The Compliance Classroom aims to ensure that its learning materials are professional, respectful and appropriate for a diverse education workforce.

As part of our course development and review processes, consideration may be given to:

  • the language and terminology used;
  • the diversity and relevance of examples and scenarios;
  • the representation of people within imagery and learning materials;
  • unnecessary stereotypes or assumptions;
  • accessibility and clarity; and
  • whether content remains appropriate for its intended audience and learning outcomes.

Where an issue is identified, content may be amended as part of our quality assurance and continuous improvement arrangements.

8. Reasonable Adjustments

The Compliance Classroom will consider reasonable adjustments for disabled learners where they would otherwise experience a substantial disadvantage when accessing our services.

Learners may contact us directly or, where their training has been arranged by their employer, raise requirements through their organisation’s training administrator.

Requests will be considered according to the individual circumstances, the nature of the requested adjustment, the functionality of our online platform and the requirements of the course or assessment.

Where an adjustment can reasonably be made, we will seek to implement an appropriate and proportionate solution.

Where a particular adjustment cannot reasonably be provided, we will explain this and consider whether an appropriate alternative is available.

We will not charge a disabled learner for a reasonable adjustment that we are legally required to provide.

9. Schools and Organisation Administrators

Where training access is purchased or managed by a school, academy, trust or other organisation, that organisation may have its own responsibilities towards its employees and learners under equality and employment legislation.

The Compliance Classroom provides the online learning service but does not replace an employer’s responsibility to identify and support the individual needs of its staff.

We encourage organisation administrators to contact us where they become aware of an accessibility issue relating specifically to The Compliance Classroom platform or course materials.

10. Concerns and Complaints

Learners who believe they have experienced discrimination or unfair treatment in connection with The Compliance Classroom, or who experience an accessibility barrier when using our service, are encouraged to contact us.

Concerns will be considered fairly and sensitively.

Where appropriate, matters may be handled in accordance with The Compliance Classroom Complaints Policy.

No learner will be treated less favourably by The Compliance Classroom for raising a genuine concern or requesting a reasonable adjustment.

11. Responsibilities

Overall responsibility for this policy rests with the Directors of The Compliance Classroom.

Anyone involved in developing, administering or delivering services on behalf of The Compliance Classroom is expected to support the principles set out in this policy.

The Directors are responsible for considering significant equality or accessibility concerns and ensuring that appropriate action is taken where required.

12. Monitoring and Review

The Compliance Classroom will review this policy at least annually, or sooner where appropriate following:

  • significant changes to relevant legislation or guidance;
  • significant changes to our services or learning platform;
  • accessibility issues or complaints;
  • learner or customer feedback; or
  • other matters indicating that the policy or our arrangements should be reviewed.

Relevant feedback, accessibility requests and complaints may also inform future improvements to our learning materials and services.

13. Policy Statement

The Compliance Classroom is committed to providing an inclusive and accessible learning experience in which learners are treated fairly, respectfully and with dignity.

We will continue to review our services and learning materials to identify unnecessary barriers to participation and, where reasonably practicable, make improvements that support equitable access to our training.
