Course Content Review Policy
Last reviewed: August 2026
The Compliance Classroom regularly reviews its online compliance training for schools and education settings to help ensure course content remains accurate, relevant and aligned with current legislation, official guidance and recognised good practice.
1. Purpose
The Compliance Classroom is committed to providing high-quality online training that is accurate, relevant and appropriate for schools and education settings.
This Course Content Review Policy sets out the processes used to review and maintain our learning materials and forms part of The Compliance Classroom’s wider quality assurance arrangements.
Course reviews are undertaken to help ensure that:
- course content remains appropriate for its intended learning outcomes;
- learning materials remain accurate, relevant and clearly presented;
- references to legislation, regulations and official guidance remain current and appropriate;
- knowledge checks and assessments remain aligned with the course content and learning objectives;
- school-based examples and scenarios remain realistic and relevant to education settings; and
- significant changes to legislation, regulatory requirements, official guidance or recognised good practice are reflected in relevant course materials where appropriate.
2. Responsibility
Overall responsibility for course quality and the course review process rests with the Directors of The Compliance Classroom.
The Directors are responsible for coordinating reviews, considering findings, recording significant amendments and ensuring that agreed actions are implemented.
Course content is reviewed by a person with appropriate knowledge and experience of the subject area. This may include a Director of The Compliance Classroom and, where appropriate, an external Subject Matter Specialist.
Where a course covers specialist, technical, legal or regulatory matters, additional specialist input or authoritative sources may be used where necessary to verify the accuracy and currency of the information presented.
3. Frequency of Review
Each course will undergo a formal review at least annually.
The review will consider the accuracy, relevance and continuing suitability of the course and its associated assessment.
Courses may also be reviewed before their scheduled annual review where The Compliance Classroom becomes aware of a significant development that could materially affect the accuracy or relevance of the content.
This may include changes to:
- legislation or regulations;
- government or regulator guidance;
- recognised standards or professional guidance;
- established good practice; or
- other information relevant to the subject of the course.
The Compliance Classroom may also review content following learner feedback, identified errors or other information indicating that an amendment may be required.
4. Review Process
The scope of each review will reflect the nature and subject matter of the course.
As appropriate, the review may consider:
- the accuracy and continuing relevance of the course content;
- whether the content continues to support the stated learning outcomes;
- current legislation, regulations and official guidance;
- recognised standards and relevant good practice;
- the accuracy and relevance of examples, case studies and school-based scenarios;
- the suitability of knowledge checks and assessments;
- learner feedback and recurring issues identified through course delivery;
- identified errors, omissions or potentially outdated information; and
- links, references and supporting resources included within the course.
Where amendments are identified, these will be considered by the Directors and incorporated into the relevant course materials where appropriate.
Following significant amendments, relevant course functionality may also be checked to ensure that the updated course continues to operate as intended.
5. Prioritising Updates
The Compliance Classroom aims to complete scheduled reviews and implement identified amendments within a reasonable timeframe.
The time required will depend upon the nature and complexity of the review or amendment.
Where an issue could materially affect the accuracy of a course — particularly following a significant legislative or regulatory change — the affected content will be prioritised and reviewed as soon as reasonably practicable rather than waiting for the next scheduled annual review.
Where appropriate, publication or promotion of affected content may be paused while a significant issue is reviewed.
6. Legal, Regulatory and Official Guidance
Many Compliance Classroom courses refer to legislation, regulatory requirements and official guidance relevant to education settings.
As part of the review process, relevant legal and regulatory references will be checked against appropriate authoritative sources wherever reasonably practicable.
Where an issue requires specialist interpretation or falls outside the expertise available within The Compliance Classroom, appropriate specialist or legal input may be sought.
Course content is designed to support staff learning and awareness. It does not constitute legal advice, and organisations remain responsible for ensuring that their own policies, procedures and practices meet their legal and regulatory obligations.
7. Assessments and Certificates
Where a course includes a knowledge assessment, the assessment will be considered as part of the course review process.
Questions and answers may be reviewed to ensure that they:
- accurately reflect the course content;
- support the intended learning outcomes;
- are clear and unambiguous;
- remain accurate following changes to course content or guidance; and
- continue to provide an appropriate method of checking learner understanding.
Where amendments to course content affect an assessment, the relevant assessment questions will also be reviewed and updated where necessary.
Completion certificates generated through The Compliance Classroom provide a record that the learner has met the completion requirements of the relevant course at the time of completion.
8. Learner and Customer Feedback
Feedback from learners, schools and other users may contribute to the course review process.
Where feedback identifies a potential factual error, ambiguity, accessibility issue or area in which course content could be improved, this may be reviewed outside the normal annual review cycle.
Feedback does not automatically result in a course amendment, but relevant feedback will be considered as part of our quality assurance arrangements.
9. Record Keeping and Version Control
The Compliance Classroom will maintain appropriate records of formal course reviews and significant amendments.
Records may include:
- the course reviewed;
- the date of the review;
- the person or persons involved;
- the areas reviewed;
- relevant legislative, regulatory or guidance changes identified;
- errors, omissions or outdated information identified;
- recommended amendments or actions;
- significant amendments made; and
- confirmation where no material changes were required.
Where significant changes are made, appropriate records of the review and resulting amendments will be retained as part of The Compliance Classroom’s quality assurance records.
10. Continuous Improvement
Course review is not limited to correcting outdated information.
The Compliance Classroom may also update courses to improve their clarity, accessibility, presentation, learner experience, assessment quality or relevance to education settings.
As The Compliance Classroom’s training suite develops, learning from learner feedback, course performance and practical experience may be used to inform both existing courses and the development of future training.
11. Review of this Policy
This policy will be reviewed periodically and updated where necessary to reflect changes to The Compliance Classroom’s services, course development processes and quality assurance arrangements.
